Pimple Like Leg Bumps: Small, Red, Black Itchy Painful

Often confused for leg pimples, let us see some of the common causes of these bumps.

Little or small pimple like bumps on legs

If you notice small pimple-like bumps on legs they could actually pimples or not. Other possible causes of bumps that resemble include

  • Keratosis Pilaris: According to Healthline.com, keratosis pilaris is characterized by “small red or white bumps resemble goosebumps”
  • Hives – if the bumps are red or the color of your skin and itchy
  • Eczema – The red spots will have patches and they will be itchy
  • Folliculitis – It causes small red bumps in places you often shave or wear clothes cause lots of friction including your thighs

Itchy cases

In case they are itchy, they could be hives or eczema since two conditions cause soreness. Furthermore, insect bites, vasculitis or other skin conditions can be responsible for your itchy bumps.

Look at other symptoms to determine what is behind them.

Red Small ones

If you have they are and small, they could be actual pimples or bumps.  If not, then other possibilities include reasons include the following:

  • Keratosis Pilaris
  • Folliculitis
  • Eczema
  • Hives
  • Insect bites

Due to the way in which most of the above diseases and conditions manifest themselves, which most people can assume, are acne. Talk to your dermatologist to help you identify if them. This will make you certain what they are and will be vital to treatment strategies.

When in between legs

Such bumps are common on your thighs and they can be caused various causes such as the cosmetics you use, hormonal imbalances, laundry products used, sweating, unbreathable clothing or sweating,  However, the more common cause is friction and sweating.

Painful and big bumps

As WebMD notes, if you have large, red, and painful breakouts deep in your skin, it could mean you’ve developed something called cystic acne”. Therefore, if you have large ones, it could be cystic acne.  However, not all cases will result in sores.

Other possible causes include boils, infected ingrown hair, or infected hair follicle.

In most instances, painful bumps may be cystic acne and its due to hormonal changes and it can be treated with oral antibiotics, birth control pills, isotretinoin or spironolactone.

White colored

I have white bumps on my legs. Are these pimples or something else? Keratosis Pilaris, hives, molluscum contagiosum, leg acne, sun tanning, and infections, among others, can possibly cause.

Talk to your dermatologist to help you identify and recommend the correct treatments. It is not a good idea to assume what they could be.

Black ones

If they are black in color, they could be actual pimples or other conditions such as age spots, diabetic dermopathy (scaly red or light brown), freckles, moles or melanoma.

Conclusion

I have seen people complaining about having ‘red,’ ‘hard ’ or ‘big’ or ‘small’ bumps that resemble pimples.  These could be actually pimples or not pimples.
